Nine years have passed since that horrible day when Paul and I got a telephone call from the University of Utah Hospital at 6:00 am informing us that our son Aaron was involved in a car accident and was in critical condition. They told us to get up there as soon as possible. When I inquired about his condition, they said that they couldn't give us any further information, but to drive safely. When the phone rang at 6:00 am in the morning, I realized that Aaron hadn't come in around midnight to tell me he was home. He always came into my room to wake me up to say "I'm home mom, Ilove you." Aaron was 19 years old. When we arrived at the hospital, we met a police
Detective on the elevator and he informed us that Casey and Chris had both died in the accident. Aaron was in a coma and was not expected to live. They asked Paul and I to sign papers to donate his eyes and organs. We phoned our Bishop. I remember when I first saw him, it didn't even look like him. Melissa was dating Casey Dugdale at the time. Many of you know the story, and how hard this struggle has been for Aaron and our family. We have had many struggles regarding this senseless crime for the past nine years. Aaron's life was forever changed. He keeps everything inside...I haven't reminded him of the date today...I hope he doesn't look at the calender.

I don't think you telling him the date makes a difference, he knows what day it is and will know that the rest of his life.
I can't believe that it has already been 9 years since that accident. I remember hearing about it that day and heading up to the hospital with my mom. Aaron truly is a miracle:) A very handsome one at that!
I remember that so well! Aaron was working for the boys at that time. I agree with Adri, he will remember it forever. It is so good for him that he has an amazing family like yours to help him through the rough days.
I cannot believe that it has been 9 years. It's amazing how clearly I remember every little detail from that day. It's so clear...it seems like only 1 year ago.
I am so proud of my brother for going through all that he has had to face and being the strong soul he is today. It was a rather long journey but I think we all have the Lord to thank for saving our brother(son, uncle, friend)on that cold winter night.
It is hard to believe 9 years have passed, most of them difficult for Aaron. We are blessed knowing the worst is over and Aaron is now healthy with wonderful happy years ahead of him.
What a nice post mom. I still can't stand the drive to the U on 215. The families involved in this accident have suffered so much. Aaron is a blessing to me everyday and I am so very proud of all he has accomplished and overcome. I love him every day and I know we will all see Casey and Chris again.
